Writing a doctoral thesis
It is a formative process by which a doctoral student learns what it means to be a researcher. The doctoral dissertation as a form of academic writing, however, has received little attention in organizational studies. My decision to write my dissertation differently inspired me to think deeply about doctoral conventions and procedures, to strive to be understood, and to avoid unnecessary words. Be persistent and enthusiastic – Writing a doctoral thesis becomes easier if you are consistent and dedicated. All things being equal, your attitude will ultimately determine your success. Be patient and work hard. Create work that you will be proud of for the rest of your life. The fact is that students must write a doctoral dissertation to complete their doctorate, and as ironic as it may seem, the only cure for this inertia is to meet this challenge head on. This article provides young researchers with practical advice to help them successfully write a first draft when writing a doctoral dissertation.
