A literature review is an integrated analysis and not just a summary of scientific writings and other relevant evidence directly related to your research question. That is, it represents a synthesis of evidence that provides background information about your topic and shows an association between the evidence and your research question. This is largely false, for two reasons. The first concerns the distinction between summary and critical summary. An abstract is a neutral description of the material, but a good literature review contains very little pure summary because, in our review, we must also judge the quality, source, and reliability of the knowledge we claim. Literature review also helps in determining the place of the current study in the scheme of the field.
