  • Advantages of olefin metathesis

Olefin metathesis is a catalytic reaction of organic compounds having a CC double bond. Due to the large number of different substrates undergoing this reaction, olefin metathesis is generally divided into different types, some of which have particular names. The main advantage of these grafted metathesis catalysts is that, despite these advantages, the popularity and widespread utility of ruthenium in olefin metathesis has only recently increased 69. Early reports of the use of Ru originate from the years when it was discovered that salts in protic media facilitated the polymerization of various norbornene derivatives 24 70 Olefin metathesis polymerization is an application of metathesis reactions to polymer synthesis and includes the cycle. The advantage of Mo catalysts is their ability to deliver. Olefin metathesis is one of these different catalytic reactions. The rearrangements of carbon-carbon double bonds carried out by olefin metathesis have become one of the most powerful tools in organic synthesis because of the ease with which this chemistry constructs carbon-carbon double bonds and the compatibility of this reaction. There are several methods to implement the olefin metathesis reaction to prepare polymers. One method, called ring-opening metathesis polymerization, or ROMP, involves the use of a moderately strained cycloalkene, such as cyclopentene. The deformation of the ring promotes the opening of the ring, thereby resulting in the formation of the open-chain product. The synthesis and characterization of a novel latent ruthenium catalyst bearing a chelate ligand containing an oxadiazole moiety for olefin metathesis is described. The main advantages of using this ligand are simplicity of preparation, mild reaction conditions and availability of starting material.
